Poetry Painting

Challenge

My brother, Steve Miller, is a poet and a baseball fanatic living in Des Moines, Iowa. I am a painter and a gardener living in Lovell, Maine. When the cold of last winter had us both indoors for long stretches, we decided to challenge each other and work together on a a quartet of poems and paintings.

After discussing the theme of “passages of time”, we settled on Midnight, Dawn, Noon and Dusk and each of us went off to work independently. Two weeks later we shared our first drafts and sketches and over the course of the rest of the winter we refined the pairings in collaboration.

Here is the result of the challenge.
